What is the present progressive?

The present progressive is a verbal expression of the present that refers to actions that are happening at the same time as it is spoken. That is, it expresses an action that is happening now, at this precise moment. It is also used to express temporary situations or states. It is different from other Spanish verb tenses because it is used specifically to talk about actions that are taking place at the moment they are spoken.
